A simple act of kindness that we hope will inspire others to do the same.

"I was enjoying lunch in a restaurant in LA with a friend of mine. We had just finished up the meal when I looked out the window and noticed a young girl with no shoes on her feet.  I paid my bill and could not escape this notion that I needed to buy her a pair of shoes.  I was compelled.  My friend and I spoke with the girl, and convinced her to stay put while we went to acquire the shoes.  I was pretty confident that I could pick ones that would fit her, since I had been in shoe sales.  Then I spotted the perfect pair. They were baby blue sneakers with tweety bird on them.  My friend protested my choice and said that the girl would definitely not want those.  I tried to explain that this was indeed the pair of shoes, but after much disagreement we decided to go get the girl and let her pick for herself.  The three of us headed into the store, and my friend and I stood back and watched as she carefully looked over all the shoes the store had to offer. Without a word from either of us, the girl picked up the sneakers and exclaimed, "I love these.  I just love tweety bird!"  Now every time I visit a new city, I try to do this for someone."
