Welcome to the Shoe Museum!

According to www.wikiepedia.org a shoe is an item of footwear.

Shoes may vary from a simple flip-flop to a complex boot.  Shoes may have high or low heels, although in western cultures, high heels are considered a women's style.  Shoe materials include leather or canvas.  Athletic shoe soles may sometimes be made of rubber.  It goes on to talk about the parts of a shoe and different kinds of shoes.

Throughout history shoes have served humanity as art, function and a representation of status.  The earliest known shoe dates from about 7000 BCE and was found in California, USA.  Of course!  However, the materials used for making shoes do not normally last for thousands of years, so shoes were probably in use long before this.  In 2007, a pair of Jimmy Choo's were coveted by practically every shoe loving woman in the world.  And in the time between that dusty sandal and Jimmy's sleek pump, were a lot of other beautiful pieces of wearable art.

While this definition and information is accurate it lacks the passion associated with shoes that we here at The Shoe Club feel shoes deserve.

The Shoe Club is also dedicated to documenting the history and the evolution of shoes, as well as the personal story of each pair.  Several unique and original shoes have already been donated to what we hope will become the largest and most exciting shoe museum in the world.  As the collection grows we will update our members with pictures, information and showcase them in a deservingly honorable way.

In the mean time we would also like to begin to chronicle the history of our own member’s personal collections!  We hope you will help us to honor the past, present and future of shoe collections everywhere.  Please send us photographs of your shoe collections or your featured pair to be safely preserved and shared with the world.  Feel free to include a short story about what you love about them, why they are special to you, why and how you felt when you bought them, where you got them.  Every shoe has a story and we want to help you share it. Our Highest Heel, Wendy Amland has a mission of finding the perfect shoe as a souvenir when ever she travels.  We look forward to sharing these stories with you soon. What is your shoe story?
